Shelley Simpson honoured with Distinguished Woman in Logistics Award

Shelley Simpson, Chief Marketing Officer at US fleet JB Hunt, has been honoured with the 2016 Distinguished Woman in Logistics Award.

Presented by North America’s Women In Trucking Association and a range of commercial supporters, the Award recognises the vital roles of female leaders in transport and logistics industry.

“I am thankful for all the organisations responsible for presenting this award. They have a history of encouraging, supporting, and recognizing the women in our industry and the accomplishments we’ve achieved. They do great work, and I am honoured and humbled to be part of this,” commented Simpson.

Simpson first joined JB Hunt in 1994 as a customer service representative and currently serves as the Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer and President of Integrated Capacity Solutions and Truckload.

As Chief Marketing Officer, Simpson guides the sales and marketing strategy for all aspects of the company. Since her appointment in 2011, J.B. Hunt has grown in revenue from $4.5 billion to $6.2 billion, the company has announced.

In her role as President of Integrated Capacity Solutions (ICS) and Truckload, Simpson emphasises developing talented and passionate employees. In the last year, she reportedly elevated engagement among truckload office employees by 30 per cent, improved its operating income by 82 per cent, and increased fleet productivity. Today, ICS is ranked in the top five of third party logistics companies in the trucking industry.

As J.B. Hunt’s highest-ranking female, Simpson also serves as an executive sponsor of J.B. Hunt’s first employee resource group – Growing and Retaining Outstanding Women (GROW). The organisation empowers career-minded women, addressing their needs at work and at home and connects employees through common interests.
