Polish OEM Wielton has celebrated the opening of its Research and Development Centre in Wieluń some 250km southwest of Warsaw.
The R&D Centre is the only one of its kind in Poland, and the second in Europe. Having been awarded the prestigious RDC status by Poland’s Ministry of the Economy last year, it is an officially recognised research facility that can act much like a university.
“Investment in the research and development centre is another step on the road to being a technology leader in the European market,” said Wielton CEO, Mariusz Golec.
“We want to give customers a 100 per cent guarantee of reliability of our products. We want to recruit the most talented engineers and scientists that our products are the best on the market – both in terms of technology and quality. It will consolidate Wielton’s competitive advantage in the European market for the long term.”
The Centre includes two newly constructed buildings and modernisation of an existing building to include areas for simulation studies and prototyping, specialised trailer fatigue and endurance testing, braking diagnostics and vehicle construction diagnostics.
According to Wielton, the R&D Centre is part of the company’s strategy to becom a top three player in European trailer building by raising the technological level and safety of vehicles being produced.
