Kässbohrer KSLH 8 for German specialty transporter

German special transporter Reiser Schwertransport has used a Kässbohrer K.SLH 8 to deliver a 60-tonne transformer frame to be used in a natural gas power station to Duisburg Port.

According to Kässbohrer, the K.SLH 8 was able to manoeuvre narrow roads and tight corners on the 420km trip, from Nordhausen in central Germany to Duisburg Port in the country’s west, thanks to its hydraulic steering axle technology.

Manfred Richter, Chief Driver of Reiser Schwertransport, underwent training at the Kässbohrer plant in Goch before the journey, and reportedly found the included “Auto Alignment System” effective at perfoming automated alignment up to a speed of 15 km/h.

According to Kässbohrer, the platform can be extended by 9,000mm, with locks for every 1,000mm extension to a maximum platform length of 24,800mm.

According to Kässbohrer, Richter says the K.SLH 8 lashing rings are ideal for safety in terms of both capacity and quality.
