EU registrations see double digit growth in 2015

Demand for new commercial vehicles in Europe has seen a strong increase in December, according to new data by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).

Total commercial vehicle registrations rose 14.8 per cent in the last month of 2015, totaling 191,826 units over the month and marking one year of consecutive growth.

Italy (+23.2 per cent), Spain (+23.0 per cent) and the UK (+20.3 per cent) ended the year by posting double digit percentage gains, followed by France (+9.4 per cent) and Germany (+8.7 per cent).

Over all of 2015, the EU market showed a consistent uplift (+12.4 per cent) and rose for the third year in a row, exceeding two million commercial vehicles registered (2,079,322).

During the year, Spain (+36.4 per cent) showed the most significant increase, followed by the UK (+16.7 per cent), Italy (+13.2 per cent), Germany (+4.3 per cent) and France (+3.1 per cent) – all performing better than 2014.
