German trailer manufacturers Krone and Schmitz Cargobull have been presented with European Transport Sustainability Awards at a ceremony in Munich.
Schmitz Cargobull won in the refrigerated semi-trailer category for its new refrigerated technology package marketed under the 'Executive' label, while Krone received its award in the 'Trailers and Tip Trailers' category for its 'Dry Box Aerodynamic' product.
According to Schmitz Cargobull, its award-winning refrigeration package is meant to establish the brand as a “one-stop-shop” in the refrigerated transport industry, covering the entire value chain from the vehicle and fridge unit through to servicing and cargo security.
“With the Executive package, a logistics provider can implement more efficient and more sustainable transport solutions for temperature-controlled freight [when using] the S.KO Cool refrigerated semi-trailer,” commented Schmitz Cargobull AG Board Member, Ulrich Schöpker.
“The Executive equipment is Schmitz Cargobull's first fully-integrated transport solution, starting with Europe's best-selling reefer, our new high-performance transport refrigeration unit, tried-and-tested trailer telematics …, on to full service available across Europe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and even tailored finance options.
“What is more, all of the components and service are produced by Schmitz Cargobull itself, and represent its comprehensive expertise, high reliability and innovation.”
Schöpker added Schmitz Cargobull was hoping to create win-win situations that offer both the OEM and its customers “better and more economical opportunities” that would eventually translate into a more environmentally friendly supply chain.
According to Krone, its award was presented in recognition of the Dry Box Aerodynamic's optimised design, with bevelled components and smooth outer shape providing a lower flow resistance and fuel savings compared to normal swap bodies.
