BPW completes Idem acquisition

German component specialist BPW has taken full control of fellow German telematics company, Idem.

Wiehl-based BPW had already held a majority shareholding in the telematics specialist since March 2012, with the full acquisition part of the two companies’ long-term strategy.

Idem founder Pete Jendras will relinquish his position on the Idem executive board at the end of 2015, but remain part of the BPW team in an advisory role.

On his behalf, Thomas Piller will assume sole management of the Munich and Ulm sites from 1 January 2016.

“The use of telematics in trucks and trailers is an important tool for hauliers with which to increase the efficiency and safety of their vehicles. With Idem … we have had the No. 1 for telematics solutions and an experienced partner at our side since 2012 in order to make the benefits of telematics available to hauliers,” commented Michael Pfeiffer, Managing Partner at BPW.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Pete Jendras warmly for the successful collaboration and are delighted that he will continue to provide his technical expertise to the BPW Group in an advisory capacity.”
