Half a year after opening for business, production in CIMC’s second US container chassis plant in Emporia, Virginia, is now in full swing.
According to recognised US industry resource Trailer Body Builder, the company has settled into the new plant quickly and is now servicing North America’s booming container transport market.
Reportedly, the chassis frame used – built in China as a series of subassemblies – is bolted together on site. From there, locally sourced components like wheels, tyres, suspensions and electrical components are added.
The Chinese company’s Intermodal Equipment division had been producing container chassis in California since 2006 and now reacted to growing demand by expanding on the east coast.
