Schmitz Cargobull launches tyre management service

Building on an existing cooperation agreement with Korean tyre brand Hankook, Schmitz Cargobull has launched a new tyre service offering.

The new value-added service will be launched in Europe first and be supported by tyre service network Pneunet, which will provide stationary and mobile mounting services and tyre repairs, as well as the regrooving of tyres and tyre storage.

“Trailer tyres need to fulfil two key requirements – as low a roll resistance and as high a service life as possible,” the German company said in a press release.

“In contrast to the tyres on the motor unit, trailer tyres are frequently subject to unique stresses, such as radial forces when driving around sharp corners or wear and tear from poor road surfaces. Shear and tear resistance are therefore important characteristics for trailer tyres. The height of trailer tyres also impacts on how much load height and hence how much load volume can be available in the trailer.”

The new project team for tyre sales and service is managed by Alain Versace, Head of Business Development – Tyres; Bernhard Schmitz, Shareholder and Deputy General Manager – Purchasing; as well as Dr Peter-Hendrik Kes, Managing Director, Cargobull Parts & Services GmbH.

“The increasing demand for complete solutions from a single supplier was one of the main reasons behind expanding our range of competencies,” Versace commented on the launch.

Reportedly, Schmitz Cargobull will allows customers to choose between a service contract or a complete tyre management offering.

Second-life tyres have also been integrated into the tyre service. On request, they can be retreaded or regrooved, and then refitted.
