US orders to improve in Q2

A new fleet survey by US-based CK Commercial Vehicle Research predicts that transport equipment orders will improve in the second quarter compared to the January-March period.

According to CK, fleets planning orders for power units and trailers as well as weighted volume estimates rose 19 per cent compared to the last survey.

Driver shortage issues are still holding pack equipment purchasing, though.

“Freight is plentiful and many indicate they would certainly buy more trucks in the current environment if they had good drivers to fill the seats,” CK said.

Fleets who participated in the survey represent a mix of fleet profiles operating 42,000 power units and 105,000 trailers.
