Western Australian company Howard Porter has reportedly acquired New Zealand side-loader specialist, Steelbro.
Global Trailer sources confirmed today that the WA-based OEM will take over the right to represent Steelbro in Australia.
Melbourne-based Krueger Transport Equipment had been representing the 135-year-old brand in Australia since February 2014 and is still responsible for the complete assembly of Steelbro side-loaders, as well as the commissioning and delivery of Steelbro products in Australia.
It also handles warranty, service and parts support on behalf of Steelbro, which continues to build side-loader cranes and controls from a purpose-built manufacturing facility in Tianijn, China.
There has been no detailed information circulated as to how the company will operate in Australia going forward, but Global Trailer sources have indicated that for now, it will continue to service the market as is.
Both Howard Porter and Steelbro were unavailable for comment.
