Munters wins Global Freight Innovation Award for Drytainer

Swedish air treatment specialist Munters has won the 2014 Global Freight Innovation Award for the Drytainer, a dehumidifier specially designed for the transport of powder substances in tankers.

The Innovation award recognises new products that target freight transport in new ways to enhance performance and decrease costs. A board of 12 judges representing leaders in the logistics industry chose the award winners. Mark Chapman, BBC Sports Presenter and Writer for the Daily Telegraph, hosted the ceremony on 19 November in London.

The Drytainer stops condensation from building up inside tankers by creating a constant low-humidity environment. According to Munters, the Drytainer reduces bacteria growth and stops powdered cargo from sticking to the inside of the tanker, reducing the need for washing the tank between deliveries.

“Using Drytainer means the period between tanker wash downs can be extended fourfold. With cleaning times reduced there is more time for tanker operations which improves the turnaround time between loads,” said Chapman.
