German transport equipment specialist Jost Werke and truck powerhouse Daimler are reportedly negotiating the acquisition of Mercedes-Benz Trailer Axle Systems by the Jost Group.
According to Jost, the Neu-Isenburg-based company is currently in “advanced negotiations” with Daimler and will showcase the Mercedes-Benz product as part of the Jost portfolio at the IAA trade show in Hanover, Germany.
“The acquisition of Mercedes-Benz Trailer Axle Systems by the Jost Group is to be completed in early 2015, subject to successful final negotiations and approval by the responsible anti-trust authorities,” Jost told Global Trailer today.
“The employee representatives at the Daimler plant in Kassel, Germany, were included early on in the negotiations on issues concerning the affected employ-ees.”
Jost also mentioned the affected employees were kept up-to-date through vari-ous information events and that it intended to expand the Mercedes-Benz axle business in future.
Mercedes-Benz Trailer Axle Systems has been active in the production of axles for commercial vehicles for the European market since 1996, when the first Ac-tros model was launched.
