German telematics providers, Funkwerk eurotelematik GmbH and idem GmbH, have merged and now trade under the name idem telematics GmbH. Both companies belong to the BPW Group and aim at offering “the first complete telematics solution” for the commercial vehicle industry.
“[This] is the first time to combine the formerly completely separate worlds of truck and trailer telematics“, Managing Directors, Thomas Piller and Pete Jendras, said in a statement.
Funkwerk eurotelematik GmbH had been acquired by Wiehl-based BPW Group in early 2014 to bolster its telematics department and add truck-specific know-how to the mix. Ever since, the two companies have been working closely together to combine electronically captured truck data with trailer information.
According to BPW, the new idem telematics GmbH will now also develop and provide solutions for the service management industry, winter and container services as well as telematics systems for airports, construction and specialised fleets. Its head office will remain in Munich.
