South African fleet succeeds in long-distance challenge

South African fleet CTS – well known for its bright yellow fleet – has successfully moved a 90-tonne nitrogen tank over a distance 1350km from Elandsfontein, a suburb of Johannesburg, to Coega, an Industrial Development Zone near Port Elizabeth.

The company used Faymonville G-MT-Modules in a 4 + 6 configuration to transport the bulky 27-metre item.

According to Faymonville, the combination’s hydraulic axle compensation and pintle-mounted pendle axles with a 60-degree steering angle made light work of a tough task.

“Between the axles, two 12-metre spacers were built in to extend the loading area to the required total length for this particular transport,” Faymonville said. “Therefore, the use of unnecessary axle lines was avoided and maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the transport were guaranteed.”
