Europe’s largest trailer manufacturing company, Schmitz Cargobull, has secured a spot on the prestigious ‘Germany’s Best Employers’ list for the second consecutive time.
The list, compiled by German magazine Focus and social network Xing, is based on a comprehensive employee survey undertaken within Germany’s 800 leading companies. Schmitz Cargobull was ranked 36th in the automotive category – ahead of GM subsidiary Opel and tyre company Goodyear.
“We consider the result an act of faith by our valued staff,” Chairman Ulrich Ulrich Schümer commented. “But we also take it as an incentive to continue to improve on every level.”
According to Schümer, the key to Schmitz Cargobull’s on-going success is a successful HR policy, which is based on the idea of continuous training and a mentoring program for future leaders.
Schmitz’ unique production system, which encourages each staff member to help improve and refine production processes, was also named as a contributing factor to achieving the positive result.
