US company ACT Reseach reported that the North American trailer industry saw a 14 per cent month-over-month gain in net orders in December, as six of the ten trailer categories posted positive results.
For 2013, a total of 231,700 orders were booked, down just under 2 per cent from 2012’s result. This was the third consecutive year of annual orders greater than 230,000, according to Frank Maly, Director of CV Transportation Analysis and Research at ACT.
“All trailer categories had single digit cancellation rates, which is a positive for the industry,” said Maly. “In addition to indicating that existing fleet commitments are solid, low cancellations also simplify material flow and order planning by the original equipment manufacturers.”
