Fliegl wins European sustainability award

German trailer brand Fliegl has won the European Transport Award in the sustainability category for the second time in a row.

The company was honoured for its commitment to improving the industry’s environmental footprint by designing more efficient equipment.

Fliegl’s three-axle ‘Greenline’ tipper model, based on a conical 50m3 tray, is said to save transport businesses up to 10 per cent in fuel consumption. As it does not extend beyond the width of the truck, the Greenline model is able to improve the combination’s overall air resistance and thereby reduce fuel usage.

“The cone-shaped tray is also easy to unload as the rear section is wider than the front, making for an even and residue-free discharging process,” the company said.

“Fliegl is one of the first manufacturers in Europe to switch to a conical tray as standard on all tipper models, taking a pioneering role in modern trailer design.”
