2013 Annual Fleet Study results out

According to the most recent edition of CK Commercial Vehicle Research’s Annual Fleet Study, US transport businesses plan to purchase a similar amount of trailing equipment in 2014 than in 2013.

While purchasing behaviour is unlikely to change, overall volumes for 2014 are expected to increase. However, only a small percentage of planned trailer purchases will be designated for added capacity, the report said.

“Most fleets are in good shape,” it concluded, pointing out that the biggest challenge in 2014 will be recruiting and retaining staff.

Fifty-five representatives from small, medium and large for-hire, private and Government fleets responded to this year's 20-question survey, covering planned 2014 truck and trailer purchases for replacement and added capacity, brand choice drivers, equipment specifications, new technologies, effects of new regulations, overall fleet health and challenges for 2014.
