Goldhofer takes over Schopf Group

Goldhofer, a manufacturer of heavy-duty transport equipment based in Southern Germany, has taken over local rival, Schopf Group, a supplier of ground support equipment to the airport industry.

“I am delighted to report that the Schopf Group’s partners, Dr Hermann Brüggemann and Claus Haubeil, have decided to entrust to our care a corporation that is one of the global players in the international airport industry. We are very much aware of the responsibility that we have for the (ed's note: 160) employees in Ostfildern.

“At the same time we offer them the opportunity to join us in further consolidating the group’s leading market position in the field of ground support equipment,” said Goldhofer CEO, Stefan Fuchs.

According to Fuchs, the merger will increase economies of scale and open up new opportunities for both brands to remain competitive in their respective markets. Schopf is also renowned for building special vehicles for the mining and tunneling industry.
