Finnish load handling specialist Cargotec has appointed Mika Vehviläinen as new President and CEO. Vehviläinen is currently acting as President and CEO of Finnair and previously held senior positions at Nokia Siemens Networks and Nokia.
“During his successful international career, Mr Vehviläinen has convincingly proven his leadership and result creating skills even under difficult circumstances. The Board is certain that under his management, Cargotec is well prepared to face future changes and challenges,” Cargotec's Chairman of the Board, Ilkka Herlin, said.
“The importance of transport and logistics will continue to increase in the future. Cargotec as the forerunner in cargo handling solutions offers an interesting challenge. I am excited to further develop the Cargotec business, together with the whole personnel,” says Vehviläinen.
Vehviläinen will commence work on 1 March 2013. Until then, Tapio Hakakari, Cargotec's Vice Chairman of the Board, will serve as interim President and CEO.
