James Sharkey has joined US company Pressure Systems International (PSI) as Director of Strategic Initiatives. In his new position, Sharkey will play a leadership role in expanding the market for the company’s automatic tyre inflation system, marketed in the US as the 'Meritor Tire Inflation System' by PSI.
Before joining PSI, Sharkey served as President of North American axle and suspension specialist, AXN Heavy Duty. After two years in the market, the start-up business achieved annual revenue of US$20 million in 2012.
Prior to his association with AXN, Sharkey was Vice President of Sales for the Strick Group and spent more than 23 years with Meritor holding increasingly responsible positions in engineering, sales, marketing, distribution and business management.
“Having someone with Jim’s background and reputation in our industry join our company is a real benefit to PSI,” PSI President, Tim Musgrave, said. “His knowledge and industry relationships are assets that are hard to find and we’re very pleased to have him as part of our team”
According to PSI, an estimated 36 per cent of all new trailers in the US are currently equipped with a tyre inflation system. The company is active in 39 countries around the world.
