Unitechnik expands in China

German company Unitechnik, a supplier of industrial automation and information technology systems, has launched a new subsidiary in Shanghai. The new facility will open just in time for Asia's key logistics fair, CeMA.

Based in Wiehl, Germany, Unitechnik is seeing growing demand for automated logistics centers in China as as rising labour costs and increasing shortages of skilled personnel keep bothering the local industry.

“In the coastal regions, the lack of skilled labour is already noticeable. Companies in China are thus investing in the automation of production processes and intralogistics. As an experienced contractor, we are supporting this development directly from Shanghai,” said Dr. Michael Hohlrieder, chairman of the Unitechnik management board.

“By launching a presence in Shanghai, it will be even easier for us to pursue new projects. CeMAT is the ideal platform from which to present our services as a system integrator and meet with potential customers.”
