Haldex and Master confirm strategic partnership in Brazil

From 2013, a new law will be introduced in Brazil requiring all new trailers to be equipped with anti-lock systems. Haldex and Brazilian company Master Sistemas Automotivos have therefore entered into a long-term agreement to manufacture and sell trailer ABS in Brazil.

Haldex estimates total sales resulting from this agreement to amount to more than SEK 300 million (EUR 35.5 million) during the initial five year period.

“Brazil's road conditions require durable, high quality braking systems with optimal braking performance to improve safety on the roads. Haldex' partnership with Master now allows our local customers to access modern ABS technology and premium products,” said Paul Bale, Haldex Senior Vice President, Business Development. “We also decided to restructure our previous three sites in Brazil to achieve a more efficient cost base, adding a new, modern site in São José dos Campos to the mix which was inaugurated in February this year”.

The annual trailer production volume for the Brazilian market amounts to about 60,000 vehicles. The new legislation will be fully implemented by 2014.
