Kögel launches “Cool – PurFerro quality” model

German trailer manufacturer Kögel will present the newly designed “Cool – PurFerro quality” model at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2012 fair. The new refrigerated box trailer is supposed to capture to the fresh and deep-frozen food transport market and has various options that also render it suitable for general use – for example to transport paper rolls.

According to Kögel, this can significantly reduce the expensive empty trips that carriers have to cope with. Reportdely, benefits like a tare weight of 7,390kg, improved cool air circulation, thicker insulation and fewer empty drives may result in additional profit of up to 1,000 Euro per year and trailer.

The newly developed low-noise aluminium floor reduces the ground noise during loading and unloading to the previous model by 10 decibels (dB) .to simplify deliveries early in the morning or late in the evening.

The hollow chamber frame profile in the floor allowed Kögel engineers to introduce loading and unloading systems as well as fastening options. The new Kögel “Cool – PurFerro quality” can therefore not only transport refrigerated goods, but also paper rolls and many other goods. The welded aluminium tray also allows for improved hygiene and simpler cleaning options in the floor area.

The box body of the new vehicle contains a newly developed foam polymer coated with a hard PVC film on the inside. The walls have a thickness of 45 or 65 millimetres, the roof has a thickness of 85 millimetres and the floor has a thickness of 125 millimetres. They are made in-house and ensure an improved thermal transmission coefficient (K-value) utilising the knowledge of the newly acquired PurFerro competence centre.
