March data support healthy trailer industry

Net orders for trailers in North America fell 11 month-over-month in March, but for the quarter, were almost identical to orders in Q1’11. This update on industry performance was reported by consulting firm ACT Research.

“Every trailer category posted month-over-month gains in build,” said Frank Maly, Director-CV Transportation with ACT Research. “Coupled with the modest drop in orders, the total industry backlog fell just over one per cent month-over-month. Despite incremental softness, the backlog was up 17 per cent compared to year-ago levels. Industry backlogs remain supportive of current production levels,” he added.
