Talbert introduces new trailer

Indiana-based Talbert Manufacturing will present a 'double-feature' at the American Towman Expo 2011 in November. The company will show its multi-purpose 55-tonne extendable trailer; as well as the highly flexible SSTA (traveling axle) 5053 trailer.

Talbert will share a booth with Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel, one of the largest independent full-service trailer dealerships in the US, with 14 locations along the East Coast from Maine to Florida. At the Expo, Hale will take delivery of the new trailers as additions to its multi-million dollar sales and rental fleet.

Talbert's multi-purpose 55-tonne Hydraulic detach telescopic trailer delivers superior adaptability to a variety of loads as its telescopic deck extends from 30 to 50-feet and offering the advantages of transporting large self-supporting loads such as steel tanks or large generators. Its versatile spread axle capabilities allow for a 2 + 2; or a 3 + 1 configuration; and its tandem axle features connections for a third axle that can be flipped or removed. The unit is also equipped with connections for a future fourth axle. Additionally, this telescopic model is engineered with a pinned and hinged gooseneck extension that can be flipped. “The ability to flip or remove the third axle, and the capability of flipping the gooseneck extension delivers key advantages during empty travel by allowing haulers to retract to an overall trailer length that is less than 53 feet,” the company says.

The SSTA 5053, meanwhile, was designed for the heavy-duty towing and recovery industry. According to Talbert, it is loaded with more standard features (over conventional units) in a base model while delivering cost-effective versatility in a variety of applications. With a 50-tonne capacity; a 41-foot-6-inch lower deck and 53-feet in overall length, the SSTA 5053 traveling axle model features a 6-degree loading angle and a 14-degree dumping angle making it suitable as a general purpose trailer, or for the easy loading and off-loading of non-operating equipment – particularly pieces with lower ground clearance.

For long-term, reliable, heavy-duty performance, the Talbert SSTA 5053 is comprised of a T-1 & 80K Steel beam constructed framework; 4-inch I-beam cross members on 9-inch centers; and 1-1/2 inch apitong flooring. Among many other standard features, the SSTA 5053 includes air-ride suspension; a two-speed landing gear, hub-piloted steel disc wheels, and both side and center tie-down slots for greater loading ease and application flexibility.
